MindTree Consulting has grown to be a 1,100-person organization in the last four and a half years. We are poised to touch 2000 by March 2005. MindTree’s current facility at Banashankari, Bangalore will soon reach its peak capacity. This required us to consider adding a new location. In doing so, we decided to have our next campus close to where people live. We did an analysis of where people live and work. We found that in West Bangalore, there is a large population of IT folks and they do not have many great professional choices nearby. They commute to far-away places. We thought that our next expansion could be closer to where they live. After looking at various options, we narrowed down our choice to Global Village, which is situated next to Bangalore University and right behind RVCE College.
Global Village is a green, plush 130-acre “high-tech, -high touch” technology park. MindTree’s West Campus will be built on this park, on a 12-acre sprawling space. RSP Architects, folks who designed ITPL and SAP Labs, are going to design MindTree’s facility. They have been given the architectural brief to symbolize the DNA of MindTree - Imagination, Action and Joy. The 500,000 square-foot facility, when completed, will be home to 5,000 MindTree Minds. The MindTree West Campus promises to be one of the finest IT campuses in Bangalore city.
If you happen to be staying in Vijaynagar, Girinagar, Malleswaram, Banashankari, BEML Layout, BHEL Layout, Uttarahalli, Rajarajeshwarinagar, and Rajajinagar or in the surrounding areas, you are not more than 10 kilometers away from the MindTree West Campus. This, in turn, means more time at home and a better work-life balance. We believe people living in west Bangalore commute for 3 hours every day to seek work, at either ITPL or Electronic City. If these same folks worked in MindTree’s West Campus, they will eliminate two hours of commuting, which we feel can be reallocated to being with friends and family.

There’s good news for IT professionals living in the south and west parts of Bangalore. MindTree’s next development center will soon come up at the Global Village, off Mysore Road. It promises to reduce the commuting time of these professionals substantially. In an interview, MindTree Consulting chief operating officer Subroto Bagchi provides more details on the MindTree West Campus.

When will the MindTree West Campus be ready for occupation?
The first phase will be ready for occupation in September 2004. However, we will begin operating at the Global Village from a temporary office that will be completed by May of 2004.What facilities are available for MindTree employees at the MindTree West Campus?
