MindTree Consulting opens GE Development Center in Bangalore
The GDC will serve GE’s global needs in several key IS areas
MindTree Consulting, an international IT consulting company, announced the opening of its GE Global Development Center at its West Campus location in Bangalore. This comes on the heels of an announcement made earlier this year when MindTree presented major expansion plans beyond its existing facilities. The GE Development Center is up and running at the new location serving GE’s global needs in several key Information Systems (IS) areas.
Alan Kocsi, CIO of GE Equipment Services Division, was present on the occasion and unveiled the plaque marking the functioning of the Development Center. Speaking to those present, he said that GE considers MindTree to be a strategic partner and the new center will build significant value for both companies. “GE has pioneered the global software development model in the 90’s. Today, we see the need to it take it to the next level. MindTree has the competence and the values in place to take us there”.
Vic Bhagat, CIO GE India & SE Asia, who played a key role in getting the Center off the ground, said, “We see this as a true partnership. We expect MindTree to bring its multi-dimensional competence – in particular, its business-backward thinking to deliver results for GE’s software needs.”
Ashok Soota, Chairman & Managing Director of MindTree Consulting, said, “To us, this presents great opportunity for growth. More significantly, as a young company we will have the opportunity to learn from GE’s management philosophy and style.”
Among those present at the inaugural were many senior GE functionaries including Jeff Schimpf, Head of GE Global Networking Organization and Rakesh Bharadwaj, CEO of GE’s Global Technology Solutions based in India.
