While IBM Lotus Notes offers several mission-critical collaboration tools, MindTree understands the need for seamless integration with your existing platforms and technologies. We have the experience to ensure smooth integration of Domino and SAP, and have performed OLE/ActiveX automation programming in Notes. MindTree has been involved with several MSOffice-Lotus Notes integrations, Notes/RDBMS integration, SQL programming like Oracle, DB2, SQL server, and Domino application integrations with Lotus SameTime.
We have also carried out portal integration activities within middleware technologies, and have integrated WebSphere and Domino, Lotus Notes and XML technologies, as well as LEI and DECS servers.
Data Migration
Data migration involves the following phases:
Scope Phase
MindTree begins by evaluating the number of applications, studying how many are in use, and how many need to be archived. The number of forms, documents and data existing within the applications is then examined, along with the size of database(s), and the number of concurrent users. We look at the availability of documentation, and identify application owners and Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs) during the migration phase. Interfaces with other application(s) are also evaluated.
Source System Study
This involves understanding the business process, the IT and application landscape, data models, and known data issues. Application complexity is examined and classified:
- Low complexity – simple forms, document libraries, discussion boards
- Medium complexity – sets of forms or document libraries with validation logic, views, workflow, user roles, and security
- Email-enabled applications – which applications are email enabled versus which are not.
- High complexity – complete business applications with complex forms, reports, views, multi-stage workflow with several roles, complex security rules, integrations with back-end systems, among others.
The third party tools used for migration are studied as well.
Design
The design phase begins with the target data model, and is followed by a design validation strategy, involving both structure and content. Sample data is profiled and key migration design principles are put down.
Realization phase
Here, MindTree develops migration code, or uses third party tools to migrate data. DDLs are developed on the new target database, and actual migration of the data is carried out.
Data Validation phase
The final phase of data migration is data validation, where data integrity is comprehensively tested, with UAT signoffs.
