| What is the changing
role of IT in your business? IT is becoming more and more of an enabler of new business offerings, while continuing to be the backbone for business administration and operations What do you see as key challenges for IT professionals as they navigate their own careers in the years ahead? IT professionals need to have a mix of good technical knowledge combined with business awareness and understanding. While roles can be split, it is vital that IT as a "unit" has the right combination of the above. Demand for “on time delivery at the right cost" will increase, since IT is becoming a bigger part of the total spend, and will be linked to the core business more and more. What do you think is the future of global development of software? I think there is good opportunity for offshore development and support, provided we can keep the cost at the right levels. Offshore means higher costs of management, due to distances. The positives must outweigh the negatives viz. distance and limited business knowledge. What were your impressions about MindTree during your last visit to India? I must say that everything I have seen of MindTree is very positive. You appear to be very well organized, professional and focused. Your empathy for local people in need is very positive, something that I will remember. What are your key messages for the Indian software professionals?
