MindTree's Integrity Policy
At MindTree, we always had an articulated Integrity Policy. All MindTree Minds, irrespective of level, role and location are bound by it. I present this as part of the Value Session to every new MindTree Mind.
The Policy is explained to Leaders who are expected to steer compliance through out the organization.
Yet, it has been a challenge to build a shared understanding of what is Integrity and what is breach of Integrity in a rapidly growing organization. We pride ourselves on our diversity, our ability to attract great talent from many different kinds of organizations. Yet, that diversity often leads to lack of alignment because in the various organizations from which people join us, there are have varying levels of maturity on the subject. |

This led us to doing something very unusual. In this document, we not only are articulating the Integrity Policy as it stood, we are going a step forward. We are sharing with you some of the dark, difficult moments that were created by people who breached Integrity. Part I deals with the Policy itself. In Part II, we are going to take you into confidence on several past cases of wrong doing, without sharing personal details. In Part III, we look at a few lessons on the subject that are valuable from an organization building perspective.
Please read this document with care.
If you interface with external suppliers and contract personnel, you will have to familiarize them with this document. Where translation is required, you may ask for the same from the head of People Function.
The idea behind this document is not to scare people. At MindTree, we do not have a big brother culture. But we take our Values very seriously, of which Integrity is the keystone. This document is placed in your hands as a rite of passage. It is my way of respecting and recognizing you as someone who would uphold our Values. When you and I sign up to be a MindTree Mind, adherence to the Integrity Policy becomes the basic social contract of our mutual existence.
